Carol Ann Roe is both a registered nurse and a licensed attorney. Her professional career includes experiences as nursing administrator at a tertiary medical center, clinical nurse specialist in a nursing home, educator, interim human resources director, and compliance officer/risk manager. Additionally, as lobbyist for the Ohio Nurses Association, she advocated the profession’s views to the Ohio General Assembly. As public affairs consultant she advised the Ohio General Assembly about the impact of legislation on nursing regulation. She has served on numerous boards of professional associations and civic organizations.
Ms. Roe is a nurse leader in Ohio. In 2017, she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Greater Cleveland Nurses Association and was featured in Cleveland Magazine. She has been recognized by the Alumni Associations of Case Western Reserve University School of Nursing and the Mt. St. Joseph University as well as the Ohio Nurses Association for her innovative teaching methods, ability to mobilize nurses to act in the political arena, and patient and nurse advocacy. She has published in the areas of nursing law and professional issues and is a sought out speaker on these topics.
Ms. Roe has been an active volunteer in political campaigns her entire adult life and was the recipient of the Ohio Nurses Association’s Excellence in Political Action Award. She was elected to Cleveland Heights City Council in 2015. She was selected by her Council colleagues to be President of Council/Mayor in 2018.
